Equipping Youth and Young Adults in Mental Health Advocacy and Digital Well-Being
WASHINGTON, April 2, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Active Minds, the nation's leading nonprofit mobilizing youth and young adults to transform mental health norms, has been awarded a $1 million grant from Google to address youth and young mental health and digital wellbeing. With this funding, Active Minds will enhance and broaden its work in this space and will further catapult the impact of its groundbreaking "Your Voice is Your Power" (YVYP) Resource Hub, a digital platform now helping youth advocate for mental health and build digital wellbeing in their schools, families, and communities.
The YVYP Resource Hub, originally developed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, has already provided thousands of youth with the tools, resources, and peer support they need to address mental health challenges. This new funding from Google accelerates the Hub's expansion, deepening Active Minds' commitment to providing youth—especially BIPOC and LGBTQ+ youth—with access to educational materials, peer-led resources, and opportunities to advocate for mental health in meaningful ways.
Together, these efforts will power a broader initiative that includes a new storytelling training and campaign, regional summits hosted across high schools and college campuses, and an expanded Your Voice is Your Power Resource Hub.
"We're incredibly grateful for Google's support, which allows us to expand the reach and capabilities of digital technology, equipping even more youth and young adults with digital wellbeing knowledge and resources to support their efforts in leading the conversation on mental health," said Alison Malmon, Founder & Executive Director of Active Minds. "This funding helps us further amplify youth voices, provide stronger digital tools for mental health advocacy, and foster peer connections that drive lasting change."
With this support from Google, Active Minds will enhance its work in this space, using the support over the next two years to integrate a robust, multi-faceted peer-to-peer mobilization initiative across its vast youth and young adult network and key programs. These new components make the Hub a more dynamic, engaging, and accessible resource, encouraging youth and young adults to engage not only as learners but as leaders in the mental health space.
"Youth and young adults want and should be heard, and that's exactly what the Your Voice is Your Power Resource Hub is designed to support," said Laura Horne, Chief Programming Officer at Active Minds. "By centering storytelling, we're giving young people the tools to share their lived experiences and drive real change—championing a new era of mental health led by youth voices."
Through digital outreach and peer-led workshops—and building on the success of two regional summits (Amplify Summit Los Angeles and Amplify Summit Tampa) already hosted to expand the Hub's reach in schools and campuses —the expanded Hub is expected to impact an estimated 300,000 youth and young adults nationwide.
