In his novel “Dropped Calls,” Robert McGuiness presents a thought-provoking exploration of modern vulnerability, civic responsibility, and the consequences of societal complacency. Grounded in recognizable realities, the story confronts the fragile systems that sustain daily life and considers what may unfold when essential resources and democratic values are taken for granted.
Beyond its speculative framework, “Dropped Calls” functions as a meditation on compassion and moral accountability. Rather than sounding an alarm, the novel encourages reflection, presenting preparedness and attentiveness as acts of care rather than fear. With each reading, deeper layers of meaning emerge, inviting sustained engagement and thoughtful consideration.
Robert McGuiness was born in Bayshore, New York, and relocated to the West Coast in the mid-1970s, where he has since made Northern California his home. His life experiences include periods of off-grid living, environmental restoration work, and long-standing involvement in agricultural and ecological initiatives. He is associated with the Josephine Porter Institute for Applied Biodynamics and is a member of the North American Lily Society. When not writing, he continues to study, engage in land stewardship projects, and pursue his interest in music.
“Dropped Calls” will be featured at the London Book Fair, taking place from March 10 to 12, 2026. The book will be showcased by The Maple Staple at Stand 6A100. Print and digital editions are also available through Amazon and other major online retailers worldwide.
